Create reusable skills

Save a repeatable procedure that an agent can apply when it fits the task.

WHEN IT HELPS

Put it to work.

Capture a documentation format, a review checklist or a team handoff procedure once and reuse it.

Before you begin

  • A procedure you can describe clearly.
  • Instructions without passwords, personal data or private source code intended for public sharing.

WALK THROUGH IT

See the workflow, step by step.

Interactive example

Synthetic sample content, with simplified screens. No model call, upload, account change or paid task runs here.

  1. In Agents & skills, open Skills and create a skill. Give it a descriptive name and explicit steps.

  2. Describe the inputs, output sections and how to handle missing information. Keep the skill enabled after saving.

  3. Choose the skill in an appropriate Chat or Worker task. Provide the source context and review whether the output followed the procedure.

A REQUEST TO START WITH

Use my handoff checklist on these selected notes. Include source references and call out setup steps that the notes do not verify.

THE USEFUL RESULT

What you should leave with.

Reusable instructions that improve consistency across repeated work.

Know the boundaries.

  • Skills supply instructions; they do not install integrations or grant tool permissions.
  • Private skills stay personal unless you deliberately publish a shareable version.

IF SOMETHING DOESN’T WORK

A skill is not being used.

Check that it is enabled, select it explicitly and make sure the task includes the inputs it asks for.
